What’s Going on At Nintendo Okie

Well folks, we’re in the biggest downtime of the year in terms of video games.  There’s not much coming out, not a lot of announcements are being made and many members of the bigger sites are going on vacation.  That’s not the case here at Nintendo Okie.  We’re still going to be bringing you all the content you expect.

First of all I want to wish a Merry Christmas to all of you out there that celebrate Christmas, Happy Hanukkah to all of our Jewish friends, Happy Kwanzaa to those of you that celebrate that holiday.  For those of you that celebrate political correctness Happy Ramahanakwanzmas.

We just released the second episode of the Nintendo Okie Podcast which can you can download here on the site or over at the iTunes music store.  The second episode of Sounds of the Game will be out on Wednesday.  Just in time for Christmas and this week Tony is going to be looking at some of the 8-bit holiday albums that have been released recently and giving you a bit of a preview for those.  There are also a few reviews coming out this week.  You can look for a review of the NERF Sports Pack for Wii tomorrow, Squeeballs Party for Wii coming out on Wednesday and The Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks on Friday.  Retro Redux this week will take a look back at the NES version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade Game.

Shelby’s Con-soul Searching this week will take a look at one of the topics brought up during the podcast this week so if you listened to that you might have heard some of his arguments concerning the subject.  We’ll keep it a secret for now, but rest assured it’s going to be good.

Next week will be our year in review and our look forward to 2010.  Each day next week we’ll be bringing you our top 10 games on all four of Nintendo’s platforms.  DSiWare will be first up on Monday, WiiWare will take the stage on Tuesday, DS will be our focus on Wednesday with Wii being highlighted on Thursday.  Friday will be all about our predictions, hope and look forward to the world of Nintendo in 2010 so make sure you visit us every day next week.

Don’t forget to check out the podcasts and enter the Question Block trivia contest for your chance to win  a WiiWare or Virtual Console game of your choice.

As always it’s because of all of you that we do what we do.  We enjoy getting feedback and comments on all the stuff we’ve got going on and want to interact with you, the readers.  Let us know, if you like what we’re doing or if you don’t.  If there’s anything you’d like to see us cover feel free to tell us that too.  We’ve got some of the best readers on the internet and I want to thank you all and wish you the best in the coming weeks and into the new year.

Nintendo Okie was started in August this year and because of you we’ve grown from a staff of 1 up to a staff of 6.  We’ve formed relationships with a great amount of people in the developement and PR side of gaming who are helping us to bring you some good content.  With their help and yours we’ll continue to grow even more.  Thanks so much for a great 2009 and here’s to an even better 2010.
