Do you remember how right after the whole situtation with Tiger Woods’ infidelity became public EA strongly backed their sports gaming star?  Well it appears that tune may have changed.  Nothing has been made public yet, but this statement from an EA spokesman is very interesting.

“Our sponsorship of Tiger Woods has been the subject of a deep internal discussion over the holiday. We expect to make an announcement shortly.” – David Tinson, spokesman for EA Sports

It appears Tiger’s future with the company may not be so solid after all.  I think the future of the Tiger Woods franchise from EA may depend on what is made known with this annoucement.  They’ve put a lot into building that franchise with Tiger in the front.  You may be seeing stars like Phil Mickelson or Paula Creamer on the front of that game soon.

UPDATE:  In the on again, off again relationship with his sponsors it appears that Electronic Arts is going to stand by their man.  EA Sports President Peter Moore said, through his blog:

“Our relationship with Tiger has always been rooted in golf,” he wrote on the blog.

“We didn’t form a relationship with him so that he could act as an arm’s length endorser. Regardless of what’s happening in his personal life … Tiger Woods is still one of the greatest athletes in history.”
