Con-soul Searching: U R Mr. Recycle
That’s it, folks. How can I deny it anymore? I think Nintendo has lost its mind. Sure, some might call me crazy but if you look at what they are planning to do, you can’t deny that they are making the wrong decisions. I don’t know why we have put up with it for so long. Sometimes we just can’t face up to the truth. Anybody that still doesn’t see the writing on the wall only needs to know one thing. Nintendo is ruining the games you love.
Anytime Nintendo gets a new idea for a game or some sort of gimmick, they throw Mario into it. Plumbers are handy and all, but I’m afraid this little Italian needs to call it quits. Read up on Super Mario Galaxy 2. It is just the first game again but with new levels. Luckily some people might want that but I expect more from the company. For years Nintendo used to reinvent their games. Over and over they took the characters you loved and created new experience for you to enjoy. On top of all that was Mario. Likable as he is, Nintendo has managed to use him to death in every game they can think of. Somebody should have told them about a blue hedgehog I know.
Perhaps it isn’t too late for Nintendo to save the rest of their characters you may ask. Read some of the hands on impressions for Metroid: Other M. And another one bites the dust, as they say. Now I am a huge Metroid
fan but I think Other M going to ruin the good name of Metroid. Knowing what I do about how Metroid games work, all the videos I see of the game show that they are abandoning everything that makes the game great. Nobody wants to switch from a 2D side view to a first person perspective. I think doing it a lot will actually make me motion sick. Never have I heard of such a crazy idea. The only thing that would be worse is using the balance board to control morph ball mode. Every Metroid game has been great so far but trying to combine the old school 2D game with the new Prime games is going to blow up in their faces.
Now what about this whole 3DS thing? Does anybody want another
Virtual Boy? Open up your history books, Nintendo. It didn’t work for you then and it isn’t going to work now. So many companies are trying to bring 3D technology into the homes of the world. The only problem is, nobody wants it. How does Nintendo expect to sell technology to people that won’t buy it? Everybody already has a DS. Before they go plop down $200 to buy another they are going to need a good reason. Everybody seems to think that 3D is the future of technology but I think it is a worse gimmick than motion controls. Sure, Microsoft and Sony are making their own “Wiimotes” now but they are just jumping on the Wii bandwagon before it rides off with all the money. They call it good business strategy. Copy catting is what is to me. Offer up some original ideas for once, people.
Many people also think that a new Zelda game is going to come out this year. Please tell me Nintendo isn’t seriously considering this. Anybody else think that they will just copy Twilight Princess and give it a different title? Not only are they doing that exact thing with Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, but Zelda already went through it with Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. Years go by and all Nintendo can do is recycle old games and sell it in a new box. I can’t stand it anymore.
Now E3 is just around the corner. This would be the perfect time for Nintendo to announce an all new title and prove me wrong. However, what they will announce will more than likely be another boring casual title that won’t interest me at all. Each year I get my hopes up, expecting to hear of a new game that will remind me of the Nintendo I used to love. Whatever they announce, it will prove how lost the company truly is. Only time will tell if the old Nintendo will ever return. Remember when Nintendo would do fun and creative stuff? Like use the first letter of each sentence to spell out a secret message? Don’t you think it would be crazy if somebody did that?

I don’t think you’re crazy at all Shelby. [=^)
I do find this funny and sad at the same time. While I know you’re not completely serious I’m pretty sure there are a number of people out there that feel exactly like this about Nintendo.
If you discover Shelby’s hidden message in this story let us know.
Oh I got it…..Shelby hates Metroids. It was too obvious. Also, people rarely investigate little fine optical ordeals like shelby discusses about….yugoslavia.
I’ve known Shelby hates Metroids for a long time now. It’s been very obvious from the way he talks on the podcast. I didn’t know his ordeal with Yugoslavia. He’s going to have to tell me about that sometime.
