Euro News Round-Up: Week Ending 06/11
Welcome to this week’s Euro News Round-Up! Apologies for the delay this week, but we’re here, just one day late!
WiiWare Demos are back
Remember last year when Nintendo trialled WiiWare demos? Well they’re back, and this time it looks like they’re going to be updated regularly! Currently available are Furry Legends, Jett Rocket, ThruSpace and Zombie: Panic In Wonderland, and are completely free. Just head over to the Wii Shop Channel, search for the Demo category, and try them out. You never know, you might find your new favourite game!
Wii leads the way
The mid-year sales figures are now out (Jan-Sept), and it’s good news for the Wii. Leading the way is Just Dance, followed closely behind by Wii Fit Plus. Nintendo’s next entrant is Wii Sports Resort, with New Super Mario Bros Wii and Super Mario Galaxy 2 in 11th and 12th. For two games that are single console and more ‘core gamer’ orientated to rank so highly is a great achievement and a testament to Mario’s ever-lasting appeal.
Mario Soundtrack Revealed
When December 3rd comes around we will all be getting Super Mario All-Stars, and with it comes a free CD. Nintendo have chosen one track from each of the main Mario games to put on the CD, and here’s the track listing!
1. Super Mario Bros.: Aboveground Background Music
2. Super Mario Bros. 2: Aboveground BGM
3. Super Mario Bros 3: Aboveground Athletic BGM
4. Super Mario World: Aboveground BGM
5. Super Mario 64: Slider
6. Super Mario Sunshine: Delfino Plaza
7. New Super Mario Bros.: Aboveground BGM
8. Super Mario Galaxy: Super Mario Galaxy theme
9. New Super Mario Bros. Wii: Title Song
10. Super Mario Galaxy 2: Super Mario Galaxy 2 theme
Sonic Colours DS Demo available now
Head over to the Nintendo Channel now to try out the DS version of Sonic Colours a week before it launches! Just sync up your DS with your Wii and try out a level from the new game (and yes, it is very good).
Okamiden release in March
For all you Okami fans, we have good news. The sequel for DS, Okamiden, will launch on the 18th March next year! Releasing so close to the 3DS launch may be a bit risky though, so will you be buying this?
NintendoTV shows off new Who game
This week’s NintendoTV, available now on the Nintendo Channel, has an exclusive first look at the new Dr Who game for Wii (it looks terrible, sorry, it just does). Also this week, the team take on actor Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz, Star Trek, Shaun of the Dead) in a game of Mario Kart! Check it out now to see who wins!
Play House this December
TV tie-in games aren’t usually very good, so we’re not expecting a huge amount from this, but nonetheless, a DS game based on the hit TV series House MD is on the way on December 10th. Apparently it’s a bit like Trauma Centre, so you never know, it might be alright.
Catch ‘em all now!
Good news Poke-fans! Deoxys and Manaphy are now available for HeartGold and SoulSilver, through new release, Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs. The two Pokemon are only available through two new downloadable quests, so get online now before they’re gone!
This Week’s Downloads
ThruSpace: High Velocity 3D Puzzle – WiiWare – 800 Points
Bookworm – DSiWare – 500 Points
This one’s a word challenge rather than anything to do with books. What makes it unique though is that it is only available on the UK and Ireland, so if you’re in Europe, sorry, you can’t play this!
GO Series: Fatal Blow – DSiWare – 200 Points
Rytmik Rock Edition – DSiWare – 800 Points
