Tony’s Time: A Buying Problem

Hi. My name is Tony and I have a problem. If you’re a regular listener to the podcast then you know everyone on the staff has a tendency to buy a lot of stuff, sometimes expensive stuff. I’m probably the least guilty simply because I don’t have a lot of expendable cash (you know having a large brood and all). However, there is one thing I just can’t stop buying.

The item that I can’t stop buying is something that I know I’m going to end up having a lot of over the next five to six years. Some of these things I’ll buy. Some will be given to me and some will probably be traded for. What could that one thing possibly be? Read on and find out.

We’re trying to eliminate some of the clutter around the house and in an effort to do so I got rid of a bunch of old Wii games that I know I’ll never play ever again; games like Ski & Shoot, Saint, The Monkey King. Some pretty high quality stuff, mind you. These were games that were fun to have for a while, some of them provided some good content on the site, but ultimately they were taking up space that could be better used for other things.

20130130-092733.jpgThat brings me to the one thing I can’t stop buying. If you’ll remember just before Christmas, Shannon mentioned that he took advantage of some deals and bought a PS3 game or two. The thing was he didn’t own a PS3. Well, I was at Gamestop yesterday and I bought a couple of games, Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition and ZombiU. Those are Wii U games. As I’ve stated many times on the podcast I don’t own a Wii U. Currently sitting on my shelf, though I have copies of Assassin’s Creed III, Call of Duty: Black Ops II (both of which I’ll be reviewing and Batman: Arkham City and ZombiU. Sitting at Shelby’s house right now I have copies of Rabbid’s Land and Scribblenauts Unlimited. All of these are Wii U games, for a system I don’t own yet.

I’ll be picking up a copy of New Super Mario Bros. U on the day I pick up my system (whenever that should be) and I want to get Lego City Undercover. The system I’m going to be purchasing will be the Deluxe system which comes with a copy of NintendoLand. If I get those two games I’ll have 9 games for the system, six of which I acquired before the system even made it to my house.

So yes. I have a problem. I can’t stop buying Wii U games. I guess it’s good that I’ll have so much to play when I finally get my system, but I think it’s bad that I’m actively looking for games to purchase for a system that I don’t even own yet. That makes me wonder about all of you out there.

How many of you have bought, traded for or acquired games for a system you don’t even own? How many did you end up with before you finally got the system?

You have more Wii U games than me and I have the system.
