Michael Pachter must be throwing a party right now in his office. Streamers flying, popguns going off, and confetti falling from shreddings of all his failed WiiHD predictions over the last two years. According to GameInformer and IGN, multiple sources have confirmed Nintendo will be announcing their next console at E3 this year, with a “pre-announcement” planned later this month.
GameInformer’s list of information on Nintendo’s next system:
- new system is capable of running games at HD resolutions
- system may either fall short of or surpass 360/PS3 in graphics, but it will be competitive
- Nintendo is already showing publishers the system
- late 2012 launch
- no word on backwards compatibility
- no word on ‘Wii’ being in the name
- when Nintendo was approached with this information, they were told that Nintendo won’t comment on their E3 plans, but “stay tuned”
IGN says:
- Console is significantly more powerful than the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360
- Nintendo is looking to recapture the hardcore market
- 1080p resolution
- Nintendo will release a pre-announcement this month
- full reveal expected at E3
- backwards compatible with current Wii software
Tony said, “Even more curious is the fact that the official E3 Twitter account links directly to this story with the following phrase. ’Could it be? Tune in June 7th and see…’”
What do you guys think? True, or False? If possibly true, what are you hoping the next system has, other than just HD?

OK Go’s ‘White Knuckles’ Video Jumps onto Nintendo 3DS – in 3D
The new nintendogs™ + cats game won’t contain the only furry animals running around the Nintendo 3DS™ system when it launches on March 27. Users who perform a system update will get access to a 3D version of the “White Knuckles” music video by OK Go. The single-take video, which features a bevy of adorable rescue dogs (and one goat), has been viewed more than 9.3 million times on YouTube. OK Go is known for its creative, one-of-a-kind videos, and the glasses-free 3D technology of Nintendo 3DS creates an entirely new experience by introducing a new dimension to the dogs and band members.
“We shot the ‘White Knuckles’ video in 2D and 3D at the same time, but until now, there hasn’t been much opportunity for people to see the 3D version,” said Trish Sie, the video’s Grammy-winning director. “I’m fired up for people to watch the video again with Nintendo 3DS and experience it in a whole new way. This opens up all kinds of creative opportunities.”
The recommended system update, which is now available, also enhances the communication features of the Nintendo 3DS system. To perform the update, users simply start the “System Settings” from the Home Menu, select “Other Settings” and scroll the page right to select “System Update.”
Nintendo 3DS launches in the United States on March 27 at a suggested retail price of $249.99. For more information about Nintendo 3DS, visit http://www.nintendo3ds.com.

Miracle Kidz announced that the classic NES Super Dodge Ball title is being updated for the WiiWare service.
“What’s being updated?”, you may be thinking.
Well, the “gameplay systems, AI, and other areas” are being updated, for “modern times”.
The game seems to be keeping the control method simple, with the Wii Remote d-pad and two buttons on it, controlling “all your actions”.
The game will feature two modes of play, tournament and match. Tournament has one player playing against the CPU, while the “Match” mode includes the option for two player local multi-player dodge ball action.
Super Dodge Ball is set to release for the Japanese WiiWare service in May, though a no date was specifically mentioned for a United States or European release…so I guess it could possibly be a world-wide release.
Many people have wondered if teleportation is possible. Well the good news is, if you can just construct some conduits in different locations around the world, hopping in one will lead to another…at least in the video game world! Sega and HVS have released a new trailer for Conduit 2 that shows off many different locations from the game’s single-player campaign, as well as some local multi-player and online multi-player footage. With just a little over a month until the game is released, I’m guessing we’ll be hearing a lot more about conduit travel…which isn’t a bad thing in my opinion!
Here’s the trailer:
We are just twelve days away from the release of the Nintendo 3DS in North America, and it seems that Nintendo and Capcom are starting to market their games(and the system) to the public with commercials.
Capcom has posted its first commercial for Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition to their YouTube account, and you can see it below:
I think it’s kind of ironic they show Ryu popping up out of the 3DS’ bottom screen at the beginning of the commercial…because isn’t the top screen on the 3DS the only “3D” screen? Anyway, do you think the commercial does a good job showing off the idea behind the 3DS, and the features gamers can expect when purchasing Super Stree Fighter IV 3D Edition?
Conduit 2 is scheduled for release in a little over a month, on April 19. Sega and HVS have been doing more interviews/previews of the game recently, and Sega just posted up a nice feature on some of the weapons you will be firing in Conduit 2. Keith Hladik, one of the producers of Conduit 2 from HVS, discusses three of the weapons in Conduit 2, and their alternate fire modes. Two of the weapons discussed are returning from the original game, the TPC Launcher and the Hive Cannon; while the last weapon Keith discusses, The Darkstar(pictured above), is brand new for Conduit 2.
When speaking of how to activate the alternate fire mode for the weapons, Keith said, “Players can now press the ‘alternate fire’ button to switch modes(defaulted to Down on the +Control Pad for the Wii Remote and Nunchuk style controls). “
“For Conduit 2 we amped it up a bit; adding “sticky” proximity grenades as its(TPC Launcher) alternate fire. What grenade launcher isn’t complete without sticky bombs!?…When the button is pressed, parts of the gun and grenade alter their color to red. Players can then plop down some grenades that explode when enemies get within range. This is perfect for protecting that capture or choke point. Another pro tip is that you can attach proximity mines to team mates and they can run around chasing after the other team! Sure, they might die in the ensuing explosion, but you don’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs!”, Keith said when speaking about the TPC Launcher’s alternate fire mode.
Conduit 2 will feature more than 20 weapons in the game, and with the alternate fire mode on some of the weapons, it will probably make for some interesting online multi-player matches, perhaps even requiring good teamwork.
If you want to read what the alternate fire modes are for each weapon, you can read the full feature HERE.
