What do you do when you’re bored on a Thursday night and there’s no news to actually speak of? You make funny things in Photoshop to pass the time. This one is for you, Shelby. The whole post is inspired by our love of Capcom and their constant misspelling of things. If you can’t have a little fun during a slow news period when can you have fun? [=^) There’s plenty more fun after the break.

Fresh off the heels of their hugely anticipated RPG Xenoblade Chronicles, developer Monolith Soft has another project on their hands. According to a report from Andriasang they are the team that is behind the development of Project X Zone. The game is a collaboration between Namco Bandai, SEGA, and Capcom, but the actual development work is being handled by the Nintendo subsidiary. This isn’t the first time the studio has handled another company’s project. They were actually the ones responsible for games like Namco X Capcom a few years ago.
If you don’t know what Project X Zone is, it’s a strategy RPG that stars characters from the rosters of stars of the different companies. We’re not even sure the game will make it over to North America, but I would wager it probably will. Stranger things have happened.

I’m one of those people that doesn’t like to play Mario Kart 7 online. People found shortcuts to exploit and continually pick those same tracks over and over again in order to win every race. Previously, this meant the online experience for a Nintendo game was one that would last a short period of time and then be ruined for the people that just wanted to have fun. Well, Nintendo has realized the internet exists and that games can be fixed when these exploits are found.
If you log on to the eShop you can download the patch for Mario Kart 7, which will remove the shortcuts from tracks like Maka Wuhu, Wuhu Mountain Loop and Bowser’s Castle 1. These glitches would allow people to jump off the track and be returned at a point considerably further ahead than they were. The patch will only remove the exploit from online play, but they will remain in the offline modes like Time Trials. I assume because Nintendo didn’t want to have to erase the times of people who earned them legitimately.
Download the patch and get to playing online with the knowledge that people can’t cheat their way to victory anymore. I played around with it last night and tried using the exploits only to lose horribly.

Well, in reality it’s one new title and an update to a current one. During a recent Nintendo Direct video, Nintendo of Japan announced they will be bringing an AR Pokemon game to the 3DS and they would be updating the Pokedex to feature all of the Pokemon currently available.
Today, Nintendo of America announced those games would be coming over here to celebrate the launch of Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2. Sometime this fall Pokemon Dream Radar and Pokedex 3D Pro will be hitting the eShop. The former uses the Nintendo 3DS cameras and allows you to catch Pokemon in real world environments. Those captured monsters can then be transferred into the RPG series. You’ll use the 3D camera and the gyroscope controls to shoot beams at pokemon in order to catch them. Nintendo even says there will be some very hard to find creatures so you’ll have plenty of incentive to capture them.
Pokedex 3D Pro is a paid update to the currently free Pokedex that will update it to include all 600+ pokemon that are currently available making it even easier to access the useful information. This pokedex will feature all of the characters in full 3D and will have comprehensive entries that will give you information on what they can learn, their strenghts and weaknesses. Best of all, every pokemon will be unlocked from the start with no need to revisit the software everyday to unlock more.
The release date and pricing of these titles have not yet been announced for North America.

There’s no denying that Ubisoft likes to get in on the ground floor when it comes to new consoles. You need not look any further than their support of the Wii and the 3DS. The publisher launched four games in November of 2006 when the Wii hit stores; GT Pro Series, Monster 4×4 World Circuit, Rayman Raving Rabbids, and Red Steel. When the 3DS hit stores in March of 2011 they were ready with six games; Asphalt 3D, Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D, Rayman 3D, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars, Rabbid: Travel in Time 3D Edition, and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell 3D.
The Wii U launch is coming up later this year and publishers are beginning to trickle out information concerning their launch titles, if any will be ready. Ubisoft is no doubt ready to be a part of that launch and they’re hoping it pays off big for them. Games Industry.biz is reporting that Ubisoft has seven titles they are preparing for the launch of the Wii U.
Part of Ubisoft’s success is expected to come from Nintendo’s Wii U, launching at the end of this year. Ubisoft is a very strong supporter and is quite bullish on Wii U. The company will have five casual titles and two core titles. Guillemot pointed to the Avengers game slated for Wii U (and Kinect) as a title that should do very well with the casual market.
They’re ramping up the number of titles even more with this launch. We know they are working on Ghost Recon: Online, which could be free to play, and they’re working on the Avengers game. The third title we know about is Rayman Legends. What the other games are is anybody’s guess.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl was a huge success for Nintendo, selling nearly 10 million copies worldwide. The staff of the podcast has been making it a weekly tradition to beat up on me in Brawl sessions after recording the show. Obviously 10 million copies isn’t enough for Nintendo and they’re making it a little easier for people to get a hold of the game.
Beginning June 10th, Super Smash Bros. Brawl along with Donkey Kong Country Returns will be getting a price drop. Both games will go from the $49.99 price that they currently retail for to $29.99. If you haven’t picked up the Nintendo fighter yet I would highly recommend you do so. I’ll also be taking this opportunity to pick up Donkey Kong as I haven’t played the game yet.

The Nintendo Selects line of games has a nice library built up. It began with titles like Wii Sports, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Animal Crossing: City Folk. Then added a number of sports titles like Mario Strikers Charged, Mario Super Sluggers and Punch-Out!!. Nintendo is now set to add to more titles to the series; Pikmin 2 and Mario Power Tennis. Both of these titles were a part of the New Play Control line of games for the Wii, but only the latter made it over here on the Wii.
I really enjoyed the NPC version of Pikmin and was waiting for this release of the second game. You’ll be able to use the Wii Remote to move the titular creatures, including two new colors, around the environment. Mario Power Tennis updates the controls to take advantage of the Wii Remote, but opinions vary on how well the controls made the transition.
These games will make their debut on June 10th for a cost of $19.99 making them a good value for anyone that might not have played the games before.

Micah likes LEGO. He’s got a huge collection of things from Pirates of the Carribbean, LEGO Prince of Persia and other stuff filling a room of his house. It’s not surprising that he can be found in the LEGO section of a toy store. While he was out and about today he saw this and had to take a picture of it. It basically confirms the existence of a LEGO Lord of the Rings game. We sort of knew it was inevitable when we heard about the line of LEGO toys, but now it’s more or less real. I’ve sent word to Warner Bros. asking about the game, but I imagine we’ll get nothing more than, “We don’t comment on rumor or speculation.” I’ll let you know.
Unchained Blades is going to be one of the first retail 3DS games to make the move to the eShop. XSEED is publishing the game and I’m really looking forward to the release of this one. It’s a dungeon crawler that looks like it’s going to use the 3DS stereoscopic screen to show off some nice looking environments. Over in Japan the 3DS version of the game sold just over 5,000 copies in its first week. Hopefully the move to digital will allow it to stay on people’s radar a little longer over here.

XSEED recently announced The Last Story is getting pushed back a little bit from its June release date until July 10th. It’s a bit disappointing we have to wait a bit longer to get the game, but I’m still playing Xenoblade Chronicles for review. I might be playing that game until July 10th so a little breathing room will be good for me.
While you wait here are some screenshots to enjoy.
