Enough Trailers To Choke A Caboose

Free Weekends have been getting a little lack around here lately. We’re going to need to do something about that. On this lazy Saturday, I figured I give you a dose from gaming’s past; some of my favorite game trailers to be exact. I like these trailers all for different reasons. Some capture the essence of their game while others have some great lines that generate visions of an epic journey. And some are just cool. I come back to these trailer often as they all strike a chord in me. There new trailer for a yet-to-be-released game I love as well. But since it’s totally non-PG, so I’m not going to link to it. Y’all can figure it out if you try hard enough.

ILL VIBES

February 9, 2013 2 comments

Imagine for a moment that you’re Chris Mikulin, co-founder and owner of Caribou Lodge Yo-Yo Works (or clyw for short). You’ve spent the past few years earning your ranking as one of the top yoyo manufactures based on insanely high quality products and the amazing multi-colored anodizations that each yoyo gets before it leaves the shop. Well, you just got in the 200 piece order from your machinist of your yoyo, The Avalanche (a staple product in your line for some time now), but there’s a big problem. All of these raw, un-anodized yoyos have a strange vibration during play that shouldn’t be there. The machinist must have messed it all up! What do you do? The only thing you can do… Anodize them in solid colors to save on expenses and create a viral marketing scheme to make them fly off the shelves at a discounted price. But wait! They need a clever name so you don’t hurt your reputation by having a sub-par product that doesn’t live up to the original run from last year…

Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fool’s Gold Avalanche is born!

What Is Love?

What is love? Oh baby, don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me no more. Oh, baby don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me no more. What is love? Yeah. Oh, I don’t know why you’re not there. I give you my love, but you don’t care. So what is right and what is wrong? Gimme a sign. What is love? Oh baby, don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me no more. What is love? Oh baby, don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me no more. Whoa whoa whoa, oooh oooh. Whoa whoa whoa, oooh oooh. Oh, I don’t know, what can I do? What else can I say, it’s up to you. I know we’re one, just me and you. I can’t go on. What is love? Oh baby, don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me no more. What is love? Oh baby, don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me no more. Whoa whoa whoa, oooh oooh. Whoa whoa whoa, oooh oooh. What is love, oooh, oooh, oooh. What is love, oooh, oooh, oooh. What is love? Oh baby, don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me no more. Don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me. I want no other, no other lover. This is your life, our time. When we are together, I need you forever. Is it love? What is love? Oh baby, don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me no more. What is love? Oh baby, don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me no more (oooh, oooh). What is love? Oh baby, don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me no more. What is love? Oh baby, don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me no more (oooh, oooh). What is love?

Don’t Fear The Panda

October 20, 2012 1 comment

This Free Weekend is both cute and relevant.  Below you will find an adorable video of a baby panda.  It’s short.  A lot of people may be scared of pandas because they are bears, or for whatever reason.  I am here to tell you, don’t fear the panda.  Not only are they adorable but they eat bamboo.  Are you a bamboo stick?  No?  Then you have nothing to worry about.  Pandas also fit in with our Extra Life marathon because we are raising money for the Saint Francis Children’s Hospital and there logo is a panda.  Remember, folks, not only are pandas not going to eat your children, they will also heal them.  Try it if you don’t believe me.

Miku Live!

This isn’t the first time I wrote about Miku Hatsune.  I just want to make sure EVERYONE is aware of how awesome she is.  The follow video is yet more proof I was born in the wrong country.  Using hologram technology, Miku (a virtual idol) has performed live concerts to sold out audiences.  If she ever performs a concert in the US, I have to go no matter what the price.  Watch this video and tell me this doesn’t look like the coolest concert you’ve ever seen!

Warning: The Following Is Extremely Heartwarming

I’ve posted videos where people send stuff to space before.  These videos always involve stuff falling back to Earth.  However, never before has one been so touching.  Ron Fugelseth is a pretty cool dad; judging by this video anyway.  His four year old son has an attachment to a certain train car, Stanley.  So Ron decided it would be cool to send Stanley on an adventure to space!  With the help of a weather balloon, a mini HD camera and an old cell phone, Stanley had the adventure of a lifetime; all of which was documented for Stanley’s best friend to see.  Ron also went to the trouble of animating Stanley’s face as he imagines it to be through his son’s perspective.  Watch this video.  It makes me cry every time.

Stupid Bird Stole My Quarter, Flew Away With It Even

Once again, thanks to the aid of icanhascheezburger.com, I have another animal video for y’all today.  Oddly, the animal in question is hardly even in front of the camera.  A couple was filming a sunset in San Francisco when a seagull decided their GoPro looked tasty.  What follows is an air shot that Steven Spielberg himself would be jealous of.  Remember, folks, birds are jerks.  Who invented them anyway?

And Sometimes The Bear, Well…

You know, folks.  Some days it just isn’t worth it to get out of bed.  I hate waking up.  It’s usually the worst part of my day. I bet this guy wished he would have stayed in bed too.  Not every day can be a winner, people.  Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes, well, he eats you.

No, It’s Not Spelled Wrong

This week I went to a concert I thought I would never see.  One of my favorite bands, Phish, played at the Zoo Amphitheater in Oklahoma City.  They put on an awesome show!  I never thought I would see them live as they temporally broke up in 2004.  Thankfully they got back together and continue to jam on.  Phish is a four piece band of guitar, drums, keyboards and bass guitar.  I am always amazed how they can make all their songs sound different with just the four of them.  I could try to explain the music Phish plays, but it’s easier for you to listen.  Check out these three videos and if you like them, go buy a CD.

That’s Bananas. No, That’s Pizza.

August 26, 2012 4 comments

There has been talk on the podcast lately about bananas and pizza. These are two of my favorite things to eat, so I decided I would try to combine these delicious items. I used a recipe found for Banana Cream Pizza on The Food Channel. The pizza was easy to make as it consist of mostly pudding mix, brown sugar and pecans but I found a flaw with the recipe. It was missing real bananas, so I got creative. I added banana slices as though they were pepperoni, then added some caramel, and finished with a dusting of cinnamon. The pizza was really good but I ended up with to much dough. In this process I believe I have come to realize this pizza is totally bananas.
