He Is The Shatow!
What happens when you mix Sonic’s DNA with a weird, black, doomy thing? Shadow the Hedgehog, of course. The folks at First4Figures are back with another installment to their modern Sonic the Hedgehog series. Shadow the Hedgehoge, in both normal and exclusive versions, is ready to use Chaos Control on your shelf. I stuck a few choice pictures in the gallery below but head over to first4figures.com to see more.
Give This Turtle A Name
Have you ever wanted to name a video game character? Sure you can name your character in an RPG or a sports game, but the whole world doesn’t see it. Well, now you’ve got your chance to let the whole world know your awesome name. Saturnine Games is working on a new 3DS eShop game called Turtle Tale and the main character doesn’t have a name yet. He needs your help. Take a look at the screenshots above and gain some inspiration. What kind of name should this poor hero have?
Nintendo Okie and Saturnine Games have partnered up to let you give this aquatic ace a proper name. From now until May 31st you can submit name ideas through a number of various outlets. You can go to Twitter and tweet your ideas to @SaturnineGames and @Nintendo_Okie. Be sure to include #nametheturtle in your post. You can send an email to nametheturtle@nintendo-okie.com. If you’ve got a Facebook account you can go to the Saturnine Games page or the Nintendo Okie Facebook Group and submit your ideas there. Entries can be submitted through all of the various means, but please don’t spam the same name to them all, be creative.
The top four entries chosen will receive a download code for Saturnine Games’ DSiWare release of Antipole. The winner will also get to have their entry become the official name of the turtle in their upcoming eShop release, Turtle Tale; and get a special mention in the game’s credits. You’ll have bragging rights amongst your friends from now until the time when video games no longer exist.
The contest is open to anyone that wants to enter, but download codes for the games will only be available if you live in North America. Entries may not contain any vulgar, insulting or derogatory terms. You also waive the right to any monetary compensation and the official name becomes the property of Saturnine Games. I mean isn’t a free game and a mention in the credits enough? All entries must be received by 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time on May 31st, 2013. Employees of Saturnine Games, Nintendo Okie and their families are not eligible to win.
Just to give you some inspiration here is some more art featuring the turtle in some menacing poses; after the break… Read more…
Diving For Bells – Mayor’s Journal – Animal Crossing: New Leaf
The Mayor’s Journal is my attempt at creative writing. I’ll be talking freely about a number of the things I experience while playing the game so be warned for spoilers.

I don’t think this rain is ever going to stop. It rained yesterday and it’s rained again today. Not constantly, though. We did have a break early in the afternoon before it picked back up again. On the plus side I did have a chance to run through the rain barefooted today. The soft, wet ground felt nice beneath my toes. You can’t be all business, all the time can you?
Yesterday we had a visitor in town. A walrus, named Phineas, came and he gave me a fishing badge. He said it was because I had completed more than 50% of my fishing encyclopedia. It was nice to be recognized for something and he said there would be more to come. I guess a love of fishing pays off sometimes? Oh, I caught a whale shark today. I didn’t even think that was possible with a fishing pole. The museum is going to have a nice addition to its collection. I spent a lot of time on the island fishing. One trip earned me over 65,000 bells that all went directly into my savings account.

Today was probably the most busy day I’ve had since I arrived in Rydland. The peach trees that I planted are doing great. The lychee trees are taking root, but it looks like one of them won’t make it. It rained again today. Having the moisture is nice, but I don’t want to spend every day in the rain. That could get depressing. The citizens don’t seem to mind. They like showing off their umbrellas and go on like nothing’s happening.
I got the chance to visit Tortimer on the island today and I’m really glad I did. I met a few members of his family, who all own shops or work on the island. One little girl named Leila likes to play store with guests and she buys things that you find on the island. I was able to go diving and collected a number of great specimens that I took back to Blathers in the museum. That collection continues to grow and grow every day. I’m really excited about the museum becoming a center that people from all around like to visit. There were a lot of different plant types growing on the sea floor and being down there with the fish was an experience like none I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to go back and do it again. I will warn you to watch out for the jellyfish. Their sting will leave you hurting for a while.

It rained yesterday. I spent a good part of the day planting new trees for a peach orchard. Those plants seem to have taken root and should give some nice fruit in the next few days. They’re right outside my front window so I’ll have a nice view of the trees framing the ocean just beyond. Today I added another orchard to a plot in the north part of town; lychee trees. I’ve never had the fruit, but it looks delicious. I should know soon how well those plants will do and hopefully they’ll be another nice crop we can use to raise some money.
We’ve had our third resident in the last week move in and this time he’s an old friend. A penguin named Cube, who used to live in the town I did before moving to Rydland, made his new home here. He heard I had become the mayor and wanted to come support me in my new efforts. It feels good to have a friend in town. The residents of Rydland are all very friendly, but I still don’t know them very well.
Wanna Buy Hyrule Castle?
I’ve never really thought about buying Hyrule Castle. I always just assumed you had to be a member of the royal family in order to live there. What if it were for sale, though? How much would it cost? Would you be interested in buying it? Would it even be worth it if Ganon was pounding on the door all the time? You can find more info on how they came up with the price and backstory here:

My new job as mayor continues to get better and better. I wasn’t really sure I was going to be able to handle a job like this, but it seems to be working out quite nicely. My approval rating reached 100% with the citizens of Rydland. All the hand shaking, junk recycling and gardening really paid off. The citizens seem to trust me and I don’t want to do anything to break that trust. I will continue to be diligent in attending to their needs to make their lives here in Rydland as pleasant as possible.
This new found approval has opened up new opportunities as well. Isabelle has now told me I can enact ordinances to make the city flow more into what my vision of Rydland should be. She did, however, warn me about becoming a dictator. Enacting ordnances isn’t cheap, but I presume it’s only to impose my will on citizens. It has to be something I truly believe in. I tend to stay up later and we’re going to see how the residents react to having shops open later in the evening. If it does not work I can easily have things changed back to “normal.” Read more…
Greatest Cutscene / Cliffhanger Ever!!
Shelby and I have talked about this ending on the podcast before, but if you’ve never seen it in all it’s glory then you need to watch it. It’s possibly the greatest ending cutscene to a game I’ve seen in a long time, if not ever. Conduit 2 is a sci-fi shooter where you play as a man named Michael Ford. He’s just saved the world, but you know the fight doesn’t end there. He needs a little help and who should show up? Well, watch the video and find out.
Fossils and Fish – Mayor’s Journal – Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Today was much more eventful. I started the day by visiting Tom Nook to find out about getting my new house built. I want to spend as little time as possible in this tent. He told me he could begin work as soon as I made up the money for the down payment. It was 10,000 bells. I came to Rydland with nothing. I found some pears hanging from a tree and picked them. I found out they’re our town’s special fruit and they’re not worth a lot of money. I gathered a bunch of them together and took them to the local store run by two small raccoons. I can only imagine they’re related to Tom Nook in some way. They gave me enough money to buy a couple of tools. I was able to get a bug net and a shovel. Both of them came in handy today.
I noticed some small holes in the ground and wondered what might be in them so I dug one of them up. It had a fossil in it. I had no idea what it was, but I did find someone in town that did. The local museum is run by an own named Blathers. He’s pretty smart. He was able to identify the fossil I had found in just a few seconds it seemed. I found a few more fossils throughout the day and brought each of them to be donated to the museum. Blathers really seemed grateful for all the donations I was making. Read more…
Shelby’s 1000+ Video Games Tribute Video
I recently passed 1000 video games in my collection. Will hit 1000 last year and we meant to have a party or something, but we never did. Anyway, to celebrate my ever-growing collection, I made the video below. Some of the pictures are out of focus but you try taking over 1000 pictures perfectly. It’s hard. Making this video made me question if I have too many games… I probably do… maybe I should stop buying games…hmmm…
