The world of Zelda doesn’t really change much. Despite the fact that Hyrule is a little different every time, the plot is essentially the same. Ganon/Ganondorf is trying to take over Hyrule. Zelda needs to be rescued and Link puts on a pair of green pajamas to save the day. Sure there have been a few that mix things up, but essentially the franchise has remained pretty steady over the years.
The image you see above is from Aaron Diaz and it’s called The Clockwork Empire. According to the limited fiction that accompanies it, the game takes place 2000 years after Twilight Princess and the tables are turned somewhat. Link is a privileged prince and Zelda takes up the sword to save him.
The art style is definitely radical compared to what we’re used to seeing. It’s based around a steampunk concept (which is something I’ve heard a lot of people say they’d like). Nintendo would probably never do something this radical to the Zelda world, but one can dream, can’t they?
