Wii U Virtual Console Launches Tomorrow

Wii U VC

Last week Nintendo announced the Wii U Virtual Console service would be launching this week after the system update takes place. Nintendo of America’s Facebook page has been promoting the release of the Virtual Console which will take place on Tuesday April 22nd. I guess that also means the system update will happen by then if it hasn’t already.  The image above was posted on Sunday and many of the online features of the Wii U and the 3DS are down today in preparation for the update.

Update:  Hopes could be dashed as it appears that the Virtual Console will not be launching on Tuesday as had been thought.  Much of the evidence pointing to this has been removed from their sources and it now appears that we may just be getting an official announcement of the games that will be available with the launch of the VC.

  1. I really can’t wait for Super metroid to be available. I also want to finally have a chance to play Earthbound. There are some others that have never been made available before that I’d like to see hit the service as well.

  2. I’ve been waiting a long time for EarthBound. It has a lot of sentimental value as I bought it and coincidentally Super Metroid with my first ever paycheck. The only thing missing is the egregious box with strategy guide (Nintendo used to make the BEST strategy guides) and scratch-n-sniff cards.
