Masahiro Sakurai Still Having Arm Troubles

It was a little over 2 years ago when we first heard that Masahiro Sakurai, creator of Smash Bros. and Kirby, had tendinitis in his right shoulder. The unfortunate news is, though his condition is improving, he’s still having issues. It was recently revealed that Sakurai uses a turbo PS3 controller on PS4 for playing games games with button mashing such as Dragon Quest Heroes and Yakuza 0. Masahiro Sakurai revealed in the Weekly Famitsu to what extent playing games with repeated button mashing affects him.

I still have trouble with my shoulder and the symptoms of tenosynovitis still remain, so I’m forced to use a special mouse that clicks by inclining for work. If I was to button mash, my arm would give out in 10 minutes.

The fact that even with this condition he’s still not just making games but actively purchasing and playing games with button mashing in them shows a he’s a pretty legit gamer. That said, this man needs and deserves a break. Let that arm heal Mr. Sakurai. You deserve a vacation.
