I guess we should have seen this announcement coming. It was only a matter of time before Disney leveraged the juggernaut that is Star Wars. Today, Disney officially confirmed that Disney Infinity 3.0 will features characters from the Star Wars universe.
The newest installment of Disney’s toys to life franchise, Disney Infinity 3.0 launches this Fall. The starter set will retail for $64.99. It includes a figure for Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano as well as a Star Wars playset entitled Twilight of the Republic.
That isn’t the only foray into the universe of Star Wars. There are at least three Star Wars playsets that have been announced. One of them takes places during the events of the Prequel Trilogy, Episodes I-III. Another one takes place during the events of the Original Trilogy, Episodes IV-VI. The last one will lead into the events of the newly announced trilogy, beginning with Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
In addition to the Star Wars playsets we can expect to see some based on Pixar’s upcoming film Inside Out as well as a new Marvel playset that features Hulkbuster Iron Man, Ultron and other charaters in the Marvel Universe.
Lastly there will be more characters from across the Disney library. These include new figures for Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Sam Flynn and Quorra from Tron: Legacy, Mulan and Olaf. There will be more announcements of characters and playsets to come at a later date.
This has also been confirmed. My Disney Infinity figure collection will grow by the number of Star Wars characters that are available. Here’s a trailer showing some of the new content. Head past the break for a few screenshots featuring many of the newly announced characters.
Disney Infinity 3.0 will be available this Fall for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, PC, iOS, and Android.
More new features have also been announced. A new 3D Toy Box Hub will make it easier for players to choose gameplay experiences. Two new multi-player Toy Box Expansion games include a new racing game and farming simulation. The game is being developed by Avalance Software. They have partnered with Ninja Theory, Sumo Digital, Studio Gobo and United Front Games to create this new toys to life experience.
