Sony Won’t Be At Gamescom; Microsoft Will Be At Gamescom

Gamescom2015

E3 is right around the corner but it’s not the only big event that’s coming soon. Gamescom is also on the way this summer. Most years at Gamescom, there’s some big news and big announcements from some big companies. Unfortunately though, this year will have a little less bigness due to Sony opting out of Gamescom. This is due to Gamescom moving forward on the calendar and E3 moving back on the calendar. They feel that there isn’t enough time between the two shows and instead would like use the Paris Games Week in October for their news and announcements. Read what Sony had to say after the jump.

We’re delighted to announce that we will be hosting an international media briefing at Paris Games Week on 27th October. With the changes this year of E3 taking place a week later and Gamescom taking place earlier, we feel that both PlayStation and the wider industry would benefit from a major news milestone later in the year, during the most important period for gaming.

We are excited about our plans and look forward to sharing some exciting announcements. We will share more information closer to the time.

For those wondering if Microsoft would also be skipping, you could put those fears to rest. Phil Spencer has announced in a series of tweets that Microsoft will indeed be Gamescom.

At the very least, there will be one console company at Gamescom. Microsoft will be there letting people check out the latest and greatest on the Xbox One. Phil Spencer to the rescue! Are you going to Gamescom?
