During Nintendo’s investors meeting, we learned that Nintendo is teaming up with Universal Studios to create a ride. Well apparently it was more of Universal’s plan then Nintendo’s. According to a series of tweets from Japan-based Nintendo-fan, Kyle Mclain, Universal surprised Iwata with extremely detailed plans for a Nintendo attraction. It had such an impact on Iwata that when he got back to Japan, he immediately went back to discuss it with Miyamoto.
For years, the thought of making a Nintendo based theme-park was brought up at Nintendo but they never acted on it (though they did make a digital one). Universal engineers even met with Nintendo veterans on how create Nintendo themed rides. It’s great to see Nintendo expanding their business into other ventures. It’ll help keep people who don’t necessarily follow Nintendo interested in their brands.
