In what has to be the most appropriate turn of events ever Bowser is new the VP of Sales for Nintendo. No, not that Bowser. That would be crazy. Doug Bowser has been named to the position. He will be in charge of a number of different sales related functions such as In-Store merchandising, Retail Strategy and Retail Marketing. He will also manage Nintendo’s key retail customer relationships and will oversee retail marketing for the Nintendo World store.
Previous to his job at Nintendo he worked for Electronic Arts. He started at that company back in 2007 and was most recently their Vice President of Global Business Planning. That role left him in charge of forcasting sales for console, PC and mobile sales. He’s also been an employee of Proctor & Gamble.
In his role he will report to Nintendo of America’s Executive VP of Sales & Marketing who said, ““Doug Bowser is an outstanding addition to our Nintendo team, as he brings a deep blend of both consumer package goods and video game sales experience. I know he will work tirelessly with our internal and external partners to ensure the broad Nintendo product lineup of hardware, software and accessories are strongly represented throughout U.S. retail points of distribution.”
This has to be the greatest move Nintendo has ever made. They should leverage this at every opportunity they can.
