Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate Will Not Have a Companion App

AC Syndicate Box ArtAnd that’s a good thing. Ubisoft’s official reason behind why their upcoming game won’t have any sort of second screen companion app is:

“For Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, the team wanted to focus all their efforts on the core experience.”

The better reason. It was dumb. It didn’t do anything to actually enhance the game or make it a better experience. All it did was frustrate players to the point that they completely ignored those spots on the map in the main game. One of the best things they did for Unity was remove that feature in an update so that you could actually open the chests just by finding them. I’m glad they’re making this change and no one will have to deal with that.

The developer also announced that, much like Unity, Syndicate will not have a multi-player mode.   While I’m glad they’re focusing on the single-player story to make it the best possible experience the multi-player in Brotherhood through Black Flag was a lot of fun. It was a very different experience from most competitive multi-player games and I enjoyed playing it.

I’m currently replaying Assassin’s Creed: Unity and streaming it live through Twitch. All of it will also be uploaded to Youtube.   I’m excited about the Syndicate. I think the setting is going to be interesting. If they can launch a game that actually works it could be a nice bounce back for the franchise.
