Late Spring means it’s time to reveal the next game in the Skylanders franchise. Activision took the lid off the next entry into the series and showed off a little of what players will be able to expect when it launches in September. The game is called Skylanders: SuperChargers and this time they have vehicles.
These new vehicles can go over land, sea and even fly through the air. Vehicular combat, aerial dogfights and barrel rolls will be the norm this time around. Of course, you’ll also have all the same land based action you’ve come to expect with the series all set in a brand new environment.
“We love making these games because in order to do it well, you have to constantly tap into your inner kid. What kid hasn’t imagined epic vehicles with amazing powers and dreamed about the adventures they could have with them? Skylanders SuperChargers makes those dreams real.” – Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg
You’ll be taking on Kaos once again as he attempts for the fifth time to take down Skylands. This time he’s unleashed a weapon called the Doomstation of Ultimate Doomstruction that can eat the sky. There will be 20 new SuperChargers characters as well as 20 new vehicles to collect in the game and, of course, all the past 300+ Skylander figures you have in your collections will still work. You can customize the vehicles in-game with different weapons and modifications. Pairing a particular SuperCharger with their signature vehicle will creature a SuperCharged combination that’s even more powerful.
Deveoped by Vicarious Visions, Skylanders: SuperChargers will be released on September 20th in North America and September 25th in Europe. The game will be available for The Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and Wii U and iPad. Wii and 3DS will get a separate, unique adventure.
