Nintendo Considering More Early Access Games

Typoman PlatformDuring the week of E3 Nintendo released nine demos for games in what they were calling their Nindies@Home program. You could play E3 demos of nine games set to release on the Wii U eShop later this year. If you downloaded and played those games you will get a 15% discount on the full release once they become available. While those games weren’t exactly early access, but more like traditional demos of those games it’s something Nintendo has been actively thinking about.

“We don’t have anything to announce, but I can say that we’re certainly exploring options and capabilities. So anything is possible. I guess the important part of it is we’re very conscious of it and definitely looking at it.” – Damon Baker, Senior Manager, Licensing Marketing at Nintendo

I really enjoyed getting to spend some time with games that were being shown off at E3. These programs give players a chance to get some hands on time with games and developers can get feedback directly from the gaming community. If they continue to do things like offer discounts on the game by playing the demo it’s something that could be a very interesting move for the company.
