There are many games that seem as though they’d be perfectly suited for for the duel screen setup of the 3DS and Wii U. However, for most, the top game on that list is Minecraft. Unfortunately, while Minecraft is well known and out on most devices, the game has yet to make it to Wii U and 3DS. This is unfortunate as fan interest for this game on 3DS and Wii U is quite high.
Well there may still be hope. During Minecon, Mojang’s COO Vu Bui was asked about other platforms now that Microsoft owns them. This was his response:
If I had my way, we’d be on everything. We want to continue to be available to all players, and that means being on new platforms because everyone uses something different. I’ve never heard a reason why we haven’t ended up on Wii U or 3DS. It just hasn’t happened yet.
Who knows what the future of Minecraft will hold but it seems they do have interest in continuing to support other platforms. It doesn’t seem like they have plans for anything Nintendo related however they haven’t ruled the platform out either. Admittedly, it would be nice to have Minecraft on Wii U and 3DS.
