The Shenmue III Kickstarter has ended and with it comes a record breaking finish. Shenmue III is now the most-funded game in Kickstarter history passing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night‘s $5,545,991 with a total of $6,333,295. That’s right, it broke the previous title holders record by almost $800,000.
As we all know, Shenmue has been a series LONG overdue for its sequel. It’s second entry, which came out in 2001, ended on a cliff hanger. Because of this, it became one of the top games on most peoples lists for series’ that need a sequel. When it was announced at E3, it made the Shenmue fanbase and Dreamcast fans go wild and rush to Kickstarter causing the site to crash. When it came up it had thousands of dollars already and ended up shattering Yooka-Laylee’s record of quickest game to $1 million dollars.
