European Releases Week Beginning 20/07/15

My apology’s for not bringing a release update last week. Due to the unfortunate passing of Mr. Iwata the information was not releases until the end of the week at which time the stuff had already been released. However, I’m back this week with everything you need to know about this weeks releases.

Wii_U_Game_BannereShop/Retail

Canvaleon (£10.80/€11.95) – A fairly retro looking 2D platformer (like something you’d expect to see on the SNES) with some interesting ideas. You play as a cameleon  who has the ability to blend in with his surroundings and sneak passed enemies, you even get to design your own camouflage which a cool idea. Ultimately though this looks very generic and with only 30 levels I’d wait for it to come down in price before dipping in to this one.

Blocky Bot (£1.89/€2.69) – This looks like a fairly interesting platform game, unlike Canvaleon it has a very unique style and a sense of humour. Also a much lower price tag makes this a much more attractive prospect. Here’s the mad trailer…

Virtual Console

Yoshi Touch & Go (£6.29/€6.99 Free for a limited time if you purchased Yoshi’s Woolly World from the eShop on the same account) – Another entry in to the ever expanding catalogue of DS games on the Wii U Virtual Console, Yoshi Touch & Go is a great entry into the Yoshi series that relied heavily on the touch mechanics that were so popular at the time on the DS. Well worth revisiting in my opinion.

Nintendo-3DS-bannereShop/Retail

I Love My Cats (£19.99/€24.99) – Remember NintenDogs? Remember when the added cats? That, this is that…

3D Sreets of Rage 2 (£4.49/€4.99) – An absolute classic in the the beat-em-up genre. The Streets of Rage series from Sega remains to this day one of the most beloved gaming franchises of all time. The Sega 3D remasters always do a good job of reinvigorating themselves so this will be absolutely worth a go weather you played it or not when it originally came out.

Ninja Battle Heroes (£1.79/€1.99) – Super generic titles aside this budget 2D action platform game looks really interesting. Retro looking (aren’t they all) but fast paced, cute and stylish; you blast through levels with your katana and ninja stars taking down enemies and bosses. Definitely one to watch this week.

Notable Discounts

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate – Was £39.99/€44.99 Now £24.99/€29.99 Until 30/07/15 if you downloaded the Monster Hunter 4 Special Demo on the same eShop account.

Myles’ Pick – There’s a couple of decent looking games out this week. Yoshi Touch & Go and Streets of Rage 2 are both classics that I’m a big fan of but it’s the budget title that really interest me this week, especially Ninja Battle Heroes which I may be partaking in after looking at some gameplay videos of. It’s cute and retro but also looks like it’ll be challenging enough to keep me occupied for a while.
