Nintendo has finally let the lid off of their plans for Miitomo, their first official smartphone app. The service, which will launch in March pregins pre-registration on February 17th. Anyone that signs up for Miitomo between that date and the launch in March will earn a special bonus.
To register for the service you’ll need to sign up for your new Nintendo account, also known as My Nintendo. you can do so with an existing email address, social media account or your current Nintendo Network ID. Once signed up you’ll be among the first to be notified of Miitomo‘s launch. According to Nintendo, while no new details have been announced, My Nintendo is a service that rewards users for interacting with Nintendo products and services in a variety of ways.
Miitomo is a social experience that will let users interact with other people in lighthearted social experiences using their Mii characters. You can engage in conversations with others by answering questions like “Do you believe in aliens?” or “If you saw a hair sticking out of your friend’s nose, what would you do?” You will also be able to take and share photos of your Mii using the Miifoto feature.
According to Nintendo of America VP of Sales and Marketing Scott Moffitt, “Miitomo is a uniquely entertaining mobile experience that only Nintendo can deliver.”
Along with Miitomo Nintendo plans to release five different smart device applications over the next 12 months.
