Straight out of the files of “you knew this was going to happen as soon as the game came to Wii U,” Minecraft is getting an update. On May 17th, the Wii U version of Minecraft is getting a free title update. This new update will smash together the worlds of Minecraft and Super Mario Bros.
This free update to the game will give players access to 40 new skins all based on characters from the Super Mario Bros. franchise including Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Wario, the Koopalings, and Bowser. Item textures in the world will be redone to allow you to create your own Super Mario themed worlds. 15 new Mario themed pieces of music will be added to the world and a new Mario themed world will be available to explore.
This new update, which could have cost as much or more than most of the themed Mash-up Packs will cost you nothing. Future versions of the Wii U edition of Minecraft will be labeled to let players know that the game includes this Mario themed content.
