I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bigger geek out moment than Jimmy Fallon last night. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime was on the show to show off Super Mario Run, which hits iOS on the 15th of this month. Jimmy couldn’t hold back his excitement of getting to try out the game and then when Reggie said he had a surprise for Jimmy and told him Mr. Miyamoto was in the audience, with Bill Trinen, he just sort of jumped around like a little boy that needed to go to the bathroom. It was really funny and shows just how excited about video games Jimmy Fallon is.
Not only, though, did they show off Super Mario Run, but they also showed off the Nintendo Switch a little bit and let Jimmy play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for a brief time. There wasn’t really any new information to show, but you got to see the console in action in a real-time setting. They demoed the Switch functionality and showed off the detachable contollers.
It was really nice to see all of that running in real-time on what appeared to be the actual hardware. Now we just need to get to January 15th so we can have the full, big reveal of the system and see some games other than Zelda running on the system.
