Mario Kart 8 Deluxe released this past week and has already done fairly well for itself. Nintendo announced today, through a press release, that in the first 24 hours of sales alone the game racked up an impressive 459,000 copies sold. That’s more than the previous record holder, Mario Kart Wii, which managed to move a measly 433,900 units on its launch day.
Combine that with the sales figures Nintendo recently released and they say that the game currently has a healthy 45% attach rate. That means nearly one in two Switch owners in the US also have a copy of the game. Not bad. Not bad at all.
The game is also reviewing very well. Currently, according to Nintendo, it has a Metacritic rating of 93, which makes it the best rated game in the series in nearly 15 years. We’re currently working on our review of the game and will have it available shortly.
