Nintendo held a Nintendo Direct presentation this morning focused specifically on the Pokemon franchise. You can view the entire presentation at the end of this post. During the video they announced three new sets of titles coming to their consoles later this year.
The first game announced is a port of the arcade/Wii U fighting game Pokken Tournament, this one titled Pokken Tournament DX. The game will come to Switch on September 22nd. It will also include five new characters that will be added to the roster; Darkrai, Scizor, Empoleon, Croagunk, and Decidueye. They will join the roster from the original game. It will offer immediate multi-player functionality with the use of the Joy-con controllers.
Alongside that release on the same day two classic Pokemon titles will be available for download on the 3DS Virtual console, Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver.
Lastly the company announced follow up titles to last year’s 3DS release of Sun and Moon. These new games, called Pokemon UltraSun and Pokemon UltraMoon will feature new stories in the Alola region as well as new pokemon to catch and train. The games will be released for the 3DS on November 17th.
Nintendo also announced today that Pokken Tournament has been added to their competitive lineup at E3 this year. Beginning June 14th at 10:30am PST eight popular Youtube and Twitch players will compete against each other. The winners of the tournament will receive a copy of Pokken Tournament DX signed by President of the Pokemon Company Tsunekazu Ishihara.
