Zen Studios Announces Pinball FX3

Right now one of the bigger names in the world of digital pinball is Zen Studios.  The company is behind one of the most popular compilations of electronic pinball tables in Pinball FX2.  The free to download platform is available on numerous systems, including Wii U.

Yesterday the company announced their next title, Pinball FX3, which they call the BIGGEST, most COMMUNITY driven pinball game ever created.  They are hoping to “redefine the console and PC digital pinball experience. Designed to bring the community together like never before”.   This new platform will be built around multiplayer experiences and tournament play in a way they’ve never done before.

From their press release:

While video game pinball has long been a solitary single player experience, Zen Studios has worked to create a new tournament structure that elevates competitive play in an exciting and engaging way. Players will have the ability to create their own pinball tournaments, compete in player vs. player match-ups and leagues, and compete in a variety of score based objectives that refresh constantly so there is always a new challenge awaiting.

The new title will be available later this year for PS4, Xbox One, Windows 10, and Steam.  Absent from that announcement was a Switch release.  I thought that a curious omission considering their previous game was on Wii U and they had even recreated some of the tables for 3DS.  When asked about it, company representative Mel Kirk told me:

We are currently focused on PS4, Xbox One, Win10 and Steam.  Zen has always been a huge supporter of Nintendo, and will continue to do so in the future.

While no Switch version of the game has been announced that does leave hope for a future announcement.
