The Valkyria Chronicles series has been primarily seen on the Playstation family of systems. The first game was developed for the PS3 (and did see a PC release a couple years ago) and the other two main entries in the series were released for the PSP after that. Last year a spin-off title that was more RPG focused was released on the PS4 and Xbox One. Today Sega has announced the series will be expanding its platform list even more.
Valkyria Chronicles 4, the next numbered entry in the series, will be releasing sometime in 2018 and will be making its way to not only the PS4 and the Xbox One. The series, which can best be classified as a turn based shooter will be making its Nintendo debut when it launches for the Nintendo Switch as well.
In the game the contintent of Europa has been involved in a Second European War. While it’s set in an alternative universe to our own you can think of it as being inspired by events of World War II. You play as Claude Wallace, commander of Squad E, of the Atlantic Federation as they make one last attempt to end the war.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 Features:
- A Coming-of-Age Story in a Time of War – Valkyria Chronicles 4takes place in the same timeframe as the original Valkyria Chronicles, but focuses on a whole new cast of main characters. Players will take command of the eager, young Commander Claude Wallace, engineer/heavy weapons extraordinaire Riley Miller, hotheaded Darcsen Raz, ice-cold ace sniper Kai Schulen, and more. Together, they will experience the painful realities of war–but will the bonds of Squad E’s friendships survive the frozen battlefield?
- The Next Generation “BLiTZ” Battle System – The part overhead turn-based strategy, part RPG, and part real-time 3rd person shooter “BLiTZ” battle system returns to the field.
