Nintendo Switch Is Getting ALL of the Bayonetta

Bayonetta is coming to the Switch. That’s all this story really needs as that’s exciting enough on its own, but we’ll elaborate. During Thursday night’s Video Game Awards show news broke that Bayonetta 2 would be coming to the Nintendo Switch. This wasn’t completely unexpected as the developers had teased it a while back with an image of Bayonetta on both a blue and red background, imitating the look of two Joy-con stacked on top of each other. The timing, however, was completely surprising. No one expected this one. I don’t think there were any teases on Twitter before the event. This one came out of the blue.

Bayonetta 2 will be available for the Switch on February 16th for $59.99. If you buy the game at retail you’ll get a free download code for the original Bayonetta. The game will be available on the eShop for $49.99 and the original game can be purchased for $9.99. If you buy Bayonetta 1 first it will be available for $29.99 and then you can download the second game for $29.99 as well. It’s confusing, I know, but any way you slice it you get both games for $60.

Nintendo and Platinum Games weren’t done there, though. They announced that Bayonetta 3 will be coming exclusively to the Switch. No release date has been given as of yet, but the game is currently in development. They did show off a brief teaser.

I love that this series has essentially become tied to Nintendo platforms. It’s a nice exclusive for the system to have and the announcement of Bayonetta 1 & 2 give Nintendo a good start towards software at the beginning of 2018. What are your thoughts on the series making its way to the Switch and apparently staying there for the foreseeable future?
