Nintendo announced today that their newest system, the Switch, has become the fastest selling console in its first 10 months on sale. According to the publisher the system, here in North America, has sold 4.8 million units. That makes it the fastest selling console during that time frame, beating the previous record holder, the Wii.
Part of that can be attributed to the stellar lineup of software that’s been available on the system. Already in 10 months more than 300 games are available to play on the system. 2018 already has titles like Bayonetta, Kirby, and a new Yoshi game coming.
“Fans across the country have experienced the joy of playing their favorite games at home or on the go,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s President and COO. “Now that many more people have received Nintendo Switch systems for the holidays, we look forward to bringing them fun new surprises in 2018 and beyond.”
According to Nintendo in 2018 fans can also expect continued support from major publishers such as EA, Activision, Ubisoft, Capcom, SEGA, Take 2 and Bethesda, plus a growing catalog of quality content from indie developers.
